Just as doctors depend on nurses, a lawyer depends on the paralegal and the legal secretary. Paralegals and legal secretaries keep law firms functioning smoothly. If you’re interested in the law, this growing career field is for you. You’ll learn the basic concepts of the legal system, trial procedures, legal terminology and how to prepare legal documents. You’ll help with legal research and document gathering and sit in on legal interviews and depositions. You’ll also have an opportunity to specialize in such fields as insurance law, business law and trial law. Your training will also serve as a good foundation if you decide to go on with your studies of the law.
