Working in the field of corrections, probation and parole can be demanding, but it can also bring the special rewards of doing a job which helps people who really need helping. If you have an interest in the field of law enforcement and the ability to work with people with special needs, then a career as a parole or probation officer might be right for you.
You will need to add a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, or some similar field, to your personal qualities, as most States recruit candidates with a degree. You have some choice in your degree programs though so perhaps now is the time to decide which you want to follow.
