The U.S. Government forecasts that the numbers of U.S. residents with limited English skills is going to increase. That means more people seeking classes and more opportunities for teachers in English as a second language (ESL) and bilingual education.
As an ESL teacher you need good (and patient) language teaching skills and also be able to provide help and guidance to your pupils, some of whom may not have been long in the country. Training requirements vary, but most State institutions require a bachelor’s degree and in any case you will give yourself the best opportunities in this field if you have a college education.
