While there is no shortage of jobs in graphic design (around 212,000 people in 2002 according to the U.S. Department of Labor) there is competition for them as many people with artistic and drawing talent want to use their gifts commercially.

In order to develop your graphic design career you should consider taking a college course. This will not only develop your artistic, drafting and design skills, but it will also train you in the vital area of computer assisted design and show you how to make your work commercial.
