If you enjoy working with people, are exceptionally detail oriented, and would like a rewarding and stable career with predictable hours, becoming a pharmacy technician may be ideal. Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists dispense medication, usually by counting tablets, labeling bottles, and pricing and filling prescpritions. The pharmacist will always check the technician's work before the medication is given to the patient. In addition, any medical questions that the patients may have are always directed to the pharmacist.
A pharmacy technician is an important member of the cycle of quality control insuring that patients get the right medication. When technicians receive written prescriptions or refill requests, they must verify that the information is complete. Any slip in this process is potentially life-threatening. If you are a careful, meticulous person, however, this is a great field with strong career prospects.
