SCJP stands for Sun-certified Java Programmer. An SCJP is someone who has learned computer programming using the Java language. Sun is a large hi-tech company that specializes in creating hardware and computer applications. Because they create so many applications using the Java language, they came up with a certification program that teaches students how to program in Java the way they do it. This means that if someone goes through Sun’s certification process, they should program using the same methods and techniques as the programmers working for Sun. This is important because many hi-tech companies build software that works on Sun products, and thus have to have compatible programming architectures.
